The British Association for Holocaust Studies presents: An Evening with Dorit Oliver-Wolff (BEM): Pop Star, Pin Up and Holocaust Survivor
In conversation with Hannah Wilson & Elizabeth Kendrick
Thursday 17th December 2020, 5pm (GMT)

In this very special online event, BAHS is proud to host the wonderful Dorit Oliver-Wolff, who was recently awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to Holocaust Education and awareness.
Dorit was born in Novi Sad, in the former Yugoslavia, to a Jewish family. In 1941, she and her mother fled their home and travelled from place to place within Hungary, creating new identities before hiding in a cellar, from where her mother would sneak out at night to look for food in bombed-out shops. They had no lighting or heat. Her father, and the rest of her family, did not survive the Holocaust.
After the war, Dorit found success as a pop singer and pin-up model in Germany, singing Jazz, Blues and cabaret, earning her legions of fans. In 2015, she published her memoir ‘From Yellow Star to Pop Star’, about her survival during the Holocaust and her career as a musical sensation.
In this event, Dorit will share her experiences with us, with a Q&A session to conclude.
